Weed Control That Actually Works
Weeds win by out-competing plants for light, water, and nutrients. The best control is a dense, healthy planting that leaves no bare soil for weeds to claim.
Prevent with density
Mulch beds 2–3 inches deep, mow lawns at the right height, and overseed thin turf. Bare soil is an open invitation to weeds.
Pre-emergent for grassy weeds
Crabgrass and annual grasses are best stopped before they germinate with a spring pre-emergent. Timing depends on soil temperature, not the calendar.
Spot-treat broadleaf weeds
Dandelion, clover, and thistle respond to targeted broadleaf herbicide or careful digging of the taproot. Avoid blanket spraying.
Persistent perennials
Bindweed and nutsedge need repeated effort — smothering, sedge-specific products, and never letting them set seed.
